How many days until Christmas Eve?
The big number at the top of the page is the answer: the whole days left until 24 December, today excluded. On the 23rd you'll read "1 day", on the 24th "It's today!", and the day after the count moves by itself to next year's Christmas Eve. Under it runs the line with hours, minutes and seconds, ending at the midnight that starts the 24th.
Christmas Eve or Christmas Day: which countdown?
If your family opens presents on the evening of the 24th, or at midnight, this is the right count; if you open them on the morning of the 25th, use the countdown to Christmas, which always shows one day more. 24 December is not a public holiday in Italy: shops and offices are open, often with shorter hours in the afternoon.
What comes before and after
- Before: 8 December and the winter solstice (21 December); the Advent calendar ends on the 24th.
- After: Christmas, Boxing Day (26 December), New Year and Epiphany, which closes the season.
- Last-minute presents: the working days in the box are the ones that count for an order to arrive in time. For any other date there is the free countdown.
