Epiphany closes the holiday season
6 January, the feast of the Epiphany, is the last day of the Christmas holidays in many countries. In Italy it is a full public holiday, when the Befana – a kindly old witch – fills children's stockings with sweets, and schools reopen on the following working day.
How to use the countdown
The big number is the whole days left until 6 January; once Epiphany has passed, the count moves to next year. Pick another year from the menu to know in advance whether 6 January will fall on a weekday or at the weekend.
